French Media Reports on Falun Gong Truth-clarification Activities in Paris

August 31, 2015

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Paris have for years reached out to Chinese tourists to let them know about the brutal persecution in China and to help them break free from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) by renouncing their Party membership. Their activities have caught the attention of a popular French investigative journal.

Mediapart, an online investigative and opinion journal with about 100,000 paid subscribers, ran an in-depth report on August 11 about Falun Gong, the persecution, and practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution to Chinese tourists in Paris. Based on interviews with practitioners, the story discusses the persecution that some of these practitioners endured before taking refuge in France, and also addresses the current legal efforts in China to bring the main perpetrator, former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, to justice.

Chinese tourists pass by Falun Gong informational posters in Paris about the global movement of quitting the Chinese Communist Party.

The article presents a detailed, overall picture of the 16-year-long persecution, citing key events – from Beijing’s initial endorsement and promotion of Falun Gong, to the CCP’s insecurity when it learned that there were more than 70 million practitioners, the Party’s slander and restrictions against the practice, the peaceful petition in Tianjin and the April 25 peaceful protest.

After Jiang Zemin launched the nationwide persecution overnight on July 20, 1999, suddenly millions were persecuted. Tens of thousands of practitioners were sent to mental hospitals and forced labor camps. To this day, there is no exact figure as to how many practitioners have been sentenced or killed in the persecution.

The article touches upon the current movement of well over 100,000 practitioners filing criminal complaints against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. The article also discusses the fact that many of the chief perpetrators, high-ranking CCP members, have been taken down and prosecuted under the current administration’s anti-corruption campaign.

The reporter interviewed renowned human rights attorney William Bourdon concerning the lawsuits filed against Jiang.

Among the practitioners interviewed for the story is Alain Tong, president of the Falun Dafa Association. The article quotes his explanation for practitioners’ persistent efforts to reach out to Chinese visitors: “We said to ourselves, if we do not expose what is happening, who will?” Mr. Tong therefore organized truth-clarification activities in areas that have concentrated Chinese populations. Through their efforts, practitioners remain committed to providing uncensored information to Chinese tourists and exposing the lies of the Chinese Communist Party.

Germany: Local Media Report on Lawsuits against Jiang

August 31, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Germany

(Minghui.org) On August 22, 2015, Chamer Zeitung and Bayerwald-Echo, two German newspapers, reported that German Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Min Teng-Schwägerl had filed a lawsuit with the Chinese Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate against the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Jiang Zemin, for murder, libel and abuse of power in the persecution of Falun Gong. She became one of 329 German and Swiss Falun Gong practitioners who have recently filed lawsuits against Jiang for genocide and crimes against humanity.

Bayerwald-Echo report on Min Teng-Schwägerl’s lawsuit against Jiang.

Both newspapers covered details about the brutal persecution in China over the past 16 years, including an estimate of 2 million practitioners who died from the CCP’s organ harvesting for profit. The stories made mention of perpetrators Zhou Yongkan and Bo Xilai’s being sentenced to prison.

Mr. Michael Schwägerl, Min’s husband, also filed a lawsuit with the Chinese Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate against Jiang. Mr. Schwägerl said that as a Christian, he had to stand up against Jiang’s murder of Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Schwägerl wrote in his indictment, “My wife started practicing Falun Gong in late 2002. However, because of the lies against Falun Gong on the Chinese Consulate’s website and the German media’s reprint of the CCP’s propaganda during Jiang’s rule, I almost divorced my wife. My family was also influenced by these lies, and pressured me to force my wife to give up practicing Falun Gong. My wife stood firm on her belief, and encouraged me to read the book Zhuan Falun. I felt that my heart was warmed while reading the book. It was a great feeling. After I finished the book, I knew that Falun Gong is good, and support their resistance to the persecution. I have participated in Falun Gong parades, and received positive feedback. Many people have signed petitions showing their support for Falun Gong, and helped spread information about the persecution. It gives me hope to see that there are so many kind people in this world which is filled with negative information. Sometime spectators and I were moved to tears. I testify with my personal experience that Jiang’s propaganda was sheer slander. Jiang should be brought to justice for depriving practitioners of their freedom of belief, and for killing millions of them. He must be punished!”

Parents of U.S. Resident File Lawsuit against Former Dictator Jiang Zemin

August 31, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) On June 16, Mr. Zhang Xingwu and his wife Ms. Liu Pinjie, Falun Gong practitioners from Jinan City, Shandong Province, sued former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.

Their daughter Ms. Zhang Shuangyin, a New York resident, has been trying to secure their freedom for the past 7 years. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities would not release her father Mr. Zhang Xinwu until his prison term expired.

Mr. Zhang Xingwu, 74, was a physics professor at Jinan Education College in Shandong Province. After the persecution began in July 1999, he was demoted and his pay was cut. He was detained on many occasions and his house was ransacked repeatedly.

Mr. Zhang was sent to Liuchangshan Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City in 2001 for 3 years. He was arrested again on July 16, 2008, under the pretext of “security measures” for the Olympics and later sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ms. Liu Pinjie, 74, was retired from Jinan Semi-Conductor Research Institute in Jinan City. She also began three years in a forced labor camp in 2001. She suffered a stroke and became paralyzed in the labor camp.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang’s directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.

Over 160,000 People File Criminal Complaints Against Jiang Zemin

August 30, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent

(Minghui.org) More than 160,000 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), between the end of May and August 27, 2015. They urge the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the Supreme People’s Court to bring Jiang to justice for his abuses of power in orchestrating the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Copies of 7,714 complaints from 8,728 people were submitted to the Minghui website during the week of August 21-27, 2015. The actual number may be higher due to censorship of such information and Internet delivery issues.

In total, copies of 139,774 complaints from 166,579 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members were submitted to the Minghui website between the end of May and August 27, 2015.

Among the complainants filed, 82,700 complaints from 100,420 people have been delivered to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the Supreme People’s Court with confirmation. The rate for confirmed delivery is 60%.

Criminal complainants against Jiang have been received from all 34 provincial administrative regions in China, including 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities, and Hong Kong and Macao, as well as 27 other countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, Japan, Britain, Malaysia, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore, France, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Italy, Indonesia, Taiwan, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Peru, and Hungary.

CCP Holds Military Parade, Police Harass Citizens

The CCP will hold a military parade on September 3 in Beijing. Police are typically ordered to keep “tight control” everywhere. Streets and lanes are patrolled. Police and 610 Office agents harass petitioners and block the mailing of complainants against Jiang using this excuse.

A post office staffer in Huaibin County, Henan Province disclosed that packages mailed by Falun Gong practitioners to Beijing on August 25 were intercepted in Xinyang, under the excuse of military parade preparation. At least 30 criminal complaints in Huaibin were intercepted. Officers from the Pingdingshan Domestic Security Brigade and 610 Office staffers worked cooperatively to harass local Falun Gong practitioners, and asked them not to petition.

Several express mail service companies in Chenxi County, Huaihua, Henan Province, stated that they received notice from upper level officials asking them not to accept mailings or packages bound to Beijing between August 20 and September 10, 2015. Everyone is asked to show identification at a check-point on a road in Wuji County, Hebei Province, to Tianjin. Falun Gong practitioner Xin Suchen showed her ID, and was escorted to Shijiazhuang Drug Rehabilitation Center, a brainwashing center, and unlawfully detained there. Her family members went there to ask for her release, but were told to come back after the military parade.

The Jiang Zemin faction has brutally persecuted Falun Gong practitioners for 16 years, by incarcerating them in forced labor camps, imprisoning them in jails, torturing them mentally and physically, and killing many by organ harvesting from living practitioners.

Impact of Lawsuits Against Jiang

Falun Gong practitioner Wang Jian, from Xingwang Township, Zunhua, Hebei Province, was arrested on August 13, 2015. He was released on August 26. Officers from Zunhua Domestic Security Bridge and Xingwang Township Police Substation attempted to have Wang prosecuted and sentenced to prison. Wang explained the facts about Falun Gong and exposed the persecution to staffers from the Zunhua Procuratorate, who came to understand the situation, and did not prosecute Wang. The Zunhua Domestic Security Bridge had to release him unconditionally.

Police officer Du Zhiqiang, from Mengdian Police Substation, Yanshan County, Hebei Province, arrested Falun Gong practitioners Liu Aihua and Liu Guifang. He extorted 2000 yuan ($313) from each family and released them several hours later. Practitioner Liu and others went to the police substation to ask for return of the extorted money on August 11. Officer Du was not there. The practitioners explained the current tide of suing Jiang Zemin to three police officers on site. Du Zhiqiang personally went to return the money to the Falun Gong practitioners at 3:00 p.m.

Practitioner Wang Zaoxiang, from Banbishan Farm, Yangxin County, Huangshi, Hubei Province, was released from Qishanfeng Brainwashing Center on August 26, 2015. Officials from the Politics and Law Committee of Banbishan Farm visited Wang the next day and said they would no longer be involved in Falun Gong issues, and would not allow upper level officials to persecute practitioners from the farm.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

Over the past 16 years, more than 3,800 Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed tortured to death. The actual toll is likely higher, because such information is tightly censored in China. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. Kassel, Germany: Calling for Support of Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin and Immediate End to the Persecution

August 30, 2015

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners from Kassel, Östringen, and Hannover, Germany, set up an information booth in downtown Kassel on August 22, 2015, to inform people about the practice of Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) and the fact that it has been persecuted in China for the last 16 years.

Passersby had an opportunity to sign three different petitions. One condemned the persecution and organ harvesting and demanded an immediate end to these atrocities. The other two petitions, one in English and one in Chinese, expressed support for the wave of lawsuits against the main perpetrator of the persecution, Jiang Zemin, the former head of China.

Passersby from Around the World Condemn the Persecution

A large group of young African men listened to a practitioner tell them, partly in German and partly in English, about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Half of them understood the connection and noticed parallels with the oppression and organ harvesting in their home country. They signed to support the right to freedom of belief. One man in the group said that he was an English teacher in Nigeria. He praised the good work by practitioners and wished them well.

Those in the group who did not really understand, stood around indecisively until an Iranian practitioner led them to a large poster with pictures about Falun Dafa and the persecution. No more words were needed.

The young men then understood and signed the petitions. They also took informational materials with them and promised to tell their relatives, families, and friends about the persecution.

Falun Dafa’s Principles Teach One to Be a Good Person

A large group of young English students learned about Falun Dafa and took informational flyers. They also watched the Falun Dafa exercises demonstration. These young people were impressed by what a practitioner said about the main text of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun, by Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of the practice. She said that one could really improve as a human being on the basis of its principles. The practitioner also told them how she herself had benefited from cultivating.

One passerby who signed the petitions said that he did not want to reincarnate again into this world. “Everything that is happening worldwide is so horrible,” he mentioned, referring also to the extent of the persecution of Falun Dafa.

A Vietnamese woman read the information on the flyer briefly, but already knew about it and explained it her daughter. They both signed the petitions and sincerely wished the practitioners continued success.

Interested passersby learned the truth about the persecution and were grateful that practitioners were informing people about these important issues.

Croatia: Falun Gong Events Held in Umag and Rovinj

August 30, 2015

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Croatia, Austria, Serbia, and Slovenia held truth clarification events in the towns of Umag and Rovinj in the Istria region of Croatia on July 18-19, 2015.

Located on the Adriatic coast, Umag and Rovinj attract many tourists during the summer. Many had a chance to find out about Falun Gong.

Passersby were very interested in learning more about Falun Gong and the persecution taking place in China. They gladly took flyers and signed the petition calling for an end to forced organ harvesting from practitioners in China.

Passersby and tourists in Umag learn about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China.

A man approached the practitioners because he read on their poster that Falun Gong is a cultivation practice of both mind and body, which impressed him. When he heard that it was completely free of charge, he said that it must be a great practice. He explained that he used to follow another practice, but in order to advance to a higher level, he would have to pay $2,000, which he could not afford.

A woman walking with a child was distracted and in a hurry as she passed the Falun Gong booth. When the boy saw the practitioners meditating, he pulled his mother’s hand and pointed, but she was not interested. The child insisted and kept pulling her hand until they had to stop. Only after the mother took a flyer and thanked a practitioner was the child content to move on.

When the practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts together in Umag, several young girls sat next to them and tried to assume the same posture.

In Rovinj, a woman from Croatia observed the practitioners meditating for a long time. She said that it calmed her down just to observe them. A man from Australia said that he saw practitioners in his country in front of the Chinese embassy and that he was glad that, in Rovinj, they are also informing the people about Falun Gong and the persecution in China.

While the practitioners were setting up their booth in downtown Rovinj, a young girl came up and asked what it was all about. They told her that they were about to demonstrate Falun Gong exercises, so she waited patiently.

After watching carefully, she took a flyer and asked for another one for her mother, who was also interested in learning more about meditation. Many people tried to copy the movements as they watched the practitioners do the exercises.

On those two days many people, mainly tourists from around the world, approached the booth, took flyers, observed practitioners demonstrating the exercises, asked questions about the persecution, and signed the petition against forced organ harvesting. Many passersby from Croatia and neighboring countries wanted to know how and where they could learn to practice Falun Dafa.

Police Release Detained Practitioner Who Stood Up for Her Beliefs

August 30, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Li from Guangzhou City was recently arrested. After talking to the police about Falun Gong, she was released the next day.

Ms. Zhang and two fellow practitioners were telling people the facts about Falun Gong on August 16, 2015. A student, who had been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda, reported them. Police arrested Ms. Zhang and another practitioner.

Ms. Zhang persistently clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the police and the student.

“My young friend, what you did is not good for you. We follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. There is nothing wrong with it,” she said to the student. “If people would keep these three principles in their hearts, there would be no poisonous oil and fake medicines, nor would there be so much corruption.”

She continued, “You asked the police to arrest us. You also harmed them. Jiang Zemin, who launched the persecution of Falun Gong, is being sued by people worldwide. He persecuted my family. He also persecuted you. It’s a heavenly principle that no one can escape punishment for bad deeds.”

Three officers came to the interrogation room. They harassed the two practitioners and handcuffed their hands behind their backs.

An official named Chen entered the interrogation room the next morning.

“Falun Dafa is good! I hope you have a bright future. And I won’t cooperate with you for anything you want,” said Ms. Zhang.

She was taken for a physical examination in the afternoon.

“My left hand was fractured before.” she said. “I will hold you responsible if it fractures again.”

The police took off the handcuff. Her hands were already covered with bruises.

“You talked about Falun Gong to three students, and we recorded their report,” said Chen. “You gave them fliers and amulets. You had 54 fliers, 10 copies of the Minghui Weekly, 1 Shen Yun DVD, and 4 amulets. You violated the social safety regulations. Do you want to appeal?”

“I completely reject everything you said,” Ms. Zhang replied. “I’m a Falun Gong disciple who assists her Teacher in saving sentient beings and rectifying the Fa. What we do is the most righteous. Jiang Zemin committed crimes. You are also committing a crime.”

He told her that they could not convince her, but she also could not convince him either. He announced that he would take her for a physical examination since she claimed that she had not become ill after she began practicing Falun Gong. She told him that she had not seen a doctor since she began practicing.

She was released at 11:54 p.m. that same night.
