French Media Reports on Falun Gong Truth-clarification Activities in Paris

August 31, 2015

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Paris have for years reached out to Chinese tourists to let them know about the brutal persecution in China and to help them break free from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) by renouncing their Party membership. Their activities have caught the attention of a popular French investigative journal.

Mediapart, an online investigative and opinion journal with about 100,000 paid subscribers, ran an in-depth report on August 11 about Falun Gong, the persecution, and practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution to Chinese tourists in Paris. Based on interviews with practitioners, the story discusses the persecution that some of these practitioners endured before taking refuge in France, and also addresses the current legal efforts in China to bring the main perpetrator, former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, to justice.

Chinese tourists pass by Falun Gong informational posters in Paris about the global movement of quitting the Chinese Communist Party.

The article presents a detailed, overall picture of the 16-year-long persecution, citing key events – from Beijing’s initial endorsement and promotion of Falun Gong, to the CCP’s insecurity when it learned that there were more than 70 million practitioners, the Party’s slander and restrictions against the practice, the peaceful petition in Tianjin and the April 25 peaceful protest.

After Jiang Zemin launched the nationwide persecution overnight on July 20, 1999, suddenly millions were persecuted. Tens of thousands of practitioners were sent to mental hospitals and forced labor camps. To this day, there is no exact figure as to how many practitioners have been sentenced or killed in the persecution.

The article touches upon the current movement of well over 100,000 practitioners filing criminal complaints against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. The article also discusses the fact that many of the chief perpetrators, high-ranking CCP members, have been taken down and prosecuted under the current administration’s anti-corruption campaign.

The reporter interviewed renowned human rights attorney William Bourdon concerning the lawsuits filed against Jiang.

Among the practitioners interviewed for the story is Alain Tong, president of the Falun Dafa Association. The article quotes his explanation for practitioners’ persistent efforts to reach out to Chinese visitors: “We said to ourselves, if we do not expose what is happening, who will?” Mr. Tong therefore organized truth-clarification activities in areas that have concentrated Chinese populations. Through their efforts, practitioners remain committed to providing uncensored information to Chinese tourists and exposing the lies of the Chinese Communist Party.

Germany: Local Media Report on Lawsuits against Jiang

August 31, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Germany

(Minghui.org) On August 22, 2015, Chamer Zeitung and Bayerwald-Echo, two German newspapers, reported that German Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Min Teng-Schwägerl had filed a lawsuit with the Chinese Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate against the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Jiang Zemin, for murder, libel and abuse of power in the persecution of Falun Gong. She became one of 329 German and Swiss Falun Gong practitioners who have recently filed lawsuits against Jiang for genocide and crimes against humanity.

Both newspapers covered details about the brutal persecution in China over the past 16 years, including an estimate of 2 million practitioners who died from the CCP’s organ harvesting for profit. The stories made mention of perpetrators Zhou Yongkan and Bo Xilai’s being sentenced to prison.

Mr. Michael Schwägerl, Min’s husband, also filed a lawsuit with the Chinese Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate against Jiang. Mr. Schwägerl said that as a Christian, he had to stand up against Jiang’s murder of Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Schwägerl wrote in his indictment, “My wife started practicing Falun Gong in late 2002. However, because of the lies against Falun Gong on the Chinese Consulate’s website and the German media’s reprint of the CCP’s propaganda during Jiang’s rule, I almost divorced my wife. My family was also influenced by these lies, and pressured me to force my wife to give up practicing Falun Gong. My wife stood firm on her belief, and encouraged me to read the book Zhuan Falun. I felt that my heart was warmed while reading the book. It was a great feeling. After I finished the book, I knew that Falun Gong is good, and support their resistance to the persecution. I have participated in Falun Gong parades, and received positive feedback. Many people have signed petitions showing their support for Falun Gong, and helped spread information about the persecution. It gives me hope to see that there are so many kind people in this world which is filled with negative information. Sometime spectators and I were moved to tears. I testify with my personal experience that Jiang’s propaganda was sheer slander. Jiang should be brought to justice for depriving practitioners of their freedom of belief, and for killing millions of them. He must be punished!”

Parents of U.S. Resident File Lawsuit against Former Dictator Jiang Zemin

August 31, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) On June 16, Mr. Zhang Xingwu and his wife Ms. Liu Pinjie, Falun Gong practitioners from Jinan City, Shandong Province, sued former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.

Their daughter Ms. Zhang Shuangyin, a New York resident, has been trying to secure their freedom for the past 7 years. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities would not release her father Mr. Zhang Xinwu until his prison term expired.

Mr. Zhang Xingwu, 74, was a physics professor at Jinan Education College in Shandong Province. After the persecution began in July 1999, he was demoted and his pay was cut. He was detained on many occasions and his house was ransacked repeatedly.

Mr. Zhang was sent to Liuchangshan Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City in 2001 for 3 years. He was arrested again on July 16, 2008, under the pretext of “security measures” for the Olympics and later sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ms. Liu Pinjie, 74, was retired from Jinan Semi-Conductor Research Institute in Jinan City. She also began three years in a forced labor camp in 2001. She suffered a stroke and became paralyzed in the labor camp.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang’s directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
