Washington DC: Forum Speakers Recount Acts of Torture, Call for Justice

May 31, 2016 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in Washington DC

(Minghui.org) A forum on “Human Rights Atrocities in China—Bringing Perpetrators to Justice” was held at the Rayburn House Office Building on May 26, 2016. Ten Falun Gong practitioners recounted the tortures they endured, and submitted the names of over 200 perpetrators to the U.S. Government, requesting further investigations and justice.

Former dictator Jiang Zemin, the person who initiated the persecution, was one of the Chinese Communist Party officials and police officers named. All information on the perpetrators originated from the Minghui.org website.

Representatives from the U.S. Congress, State Department, and U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) attended the forum. The Frank R. Wolf International Religious Freedom Act of 2015, introduced last month, aims to strengthen religious freedom protection through increased inter-agency cooperation, and sanctions against countries and individual perpetrators.

“Death Bed” Survivor Calls for Justice

2016-5-31-washingtondc-forum-2
Ms. Ma Chunmei

The “death bed” is one of the many torture devices used by the Chinese Communist Party police on prisoners of conscience, especially Falun Gong practitioners. The victim is tied to a metal bed and not allowed to move for a long period of time. Other types of torture, such as forced-feeding, are employed at the same time.

“They [guards in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp] tied my limbs to a metal bed and inserted a rubber tube into my stomach to force-feed me. They pushed and pulled the rubber tube to inflict pain. I vomited the salty corn paste along with blood all over the place. They laughed. I noticed that one of them was taking pictures,” said Ms. Ma Chunmei from northeastern China, a “death bed” survivor who described one of the ways she was tortured in November 1999. She was a United Nations refugee, and resettled in the U.S. in September 2009.

Ms. Ma was handcuffed to an upper bunkbed in 2000 after she protested in the labor camp cafeteria that she was being tortured. She was suspended with her feet off the ground, so that her arms and handcuffed wrists bore her entire weight. She vomited and fainted.

“After I regained consciousness, I realized that the guards had cuffed my outstretched limbs onto a metal bed. I was restrained in that position for three days and nights without any food or water. I couldn’t move after being released from the death bed.”

Ms. Ma submitted a list of 79 perpetrators who were responsible for her suffering in a persecution aimed at coercing citizens to abandon their beliefs.

Surviving Sister: “Our Grief Never Ends”

2016-5-31-washingtondc-forum-3
Ms. Gao Rongrong

Ms. Gao Rongrong died at the age of 37 on June 16, 2005. She suffered six to seven hours of non-stop high-voltage electric baton shocks on May 7, 2004, and was disfigured.

Ms. Gao Weiwei, her elder sister, said at the forum, “Rongrong was detained in secrecy during the final three months of her life. We don’t know how much she suffered. The grief in our family never ends.”

The 610 Office, a Party-based security agency in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, and local police continued to harass the family after Gao Rongrong’s death. Her elder brother, once a senior editor of a newspaper, has been forced to leave home and move frequently to avoid harassment.

Ms. Gao Weiwei, along with her father and another younger sister, made it to the United States in May 2014. She submitted a list of 88 names of people who were personally responsible for the death of her younger sister, Gao Rongrong.

Support from U.S. Officials

Ms. Abiola Afolayan, representative for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

“Falun Gong practitioners have long been subjected to systematic, brutal, bloody, and wholly unwarranted suppression and persecution,” said Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas in her statement.

“I will continue to work with my colleagues on various legislative initiatives, urging the government of China to end abuses perpetrated upon the Falun Gong practitioners, and embark on a path towards peace, harmony, and inclusion of all persons on China.”

Ms. Tina Mufford, policy analyst, East Asia-Pacific, U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

“The stories of your bravery, your courage, your perseverance, and survival is truly inspiring,” said Ms. Tina Mufford, policy analyst, East Asia-Pacific at USCIRF. She called the persecution “horrific, stark, and mind-boggling.”

“Your testimonies here today are so important to let the world know what’s happening in your country, what religious violations really mean, how they have destroyed so many lives, and how you still survive in the face of all that you have experienced.”

[Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day] Dafa Brings My Family Health and Happiness

May 30, 2016 | By Yan Ming, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) When I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997, I was the only one in my family practicing. Now, my entire large family has joined me in the practice. We live our lives by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and we are all very grateful for the practice, and the health and happiness it brings.

Dafa Changed My Daughter-in-Law

My daughter-in-law practiced Dafa with me shortly after I started, but she stopped when the persecution began suddenly in July 1999. She was so traumatized by the persecution that she even tried to stop me from practicing, threatening to divorce my son.

Facing such strong pressure from her, I wasn’t moved. Instead, I tried to treat her better and better and let her know how great Dafa is through my own actions. Sometimes I told her about other practitioners and how they benefited from the practice. She was deeply moved by these stories and became supportive of my practicing Dafa. Sometimes she also talked to other people about Dafa and cleared up misunderstandings they had about the practice due to the persecution.

My daughter-in-law later had back surgery and was bedridden for six months. After the surgery, she wasn’t able to do any heavy work. I encouraged her to resume practicing Falun Dafa.

It wasn’t easy for her to agree to pick up the practice again. But after she did the exercises for a while, she completely recovered and was able to do anything.

She soon started a small business selling clothes. Following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she often returned extra items given by her clothing distributor and developed a good reputation for her integrity and honesty.

My 85-year-old Father Enjoys Good Health

I still remember when I first introduced Falun Dafa to my father, a loyal Communist Party member; he was yelling at me so loudly that people on the street could hear him!

But with time, he gradually changed his mind and began to accept that I practiced Falun Dafa. However, he didn’t fundamentally change his view about Dafa until he finally read a Dafa book.

“This is indeed a good practice! You really have to practice it well,” he said to me after finishing reading the book.

Although he used to have very poor health and his one brother and two sisters all passed away due to a disease that runs in our family, my father is now enjoying good health and happily tends the garden at home at 85 years old.

Dafa Saved My Life Twice

I’d like to share two stories of how Master protected me from grave danger.

I suddenly woke up one night, unable to move or talk. I realized I might have been poisoned by the burning coal gas. My daughter-in-law and her newborn baby girl were in the same room. But no matter how hard I struggled to sit up, I couldn’t move at all.

I had just started practicing Falun Dafa at that time and I suddenly thought to call for help from the Master (referring to Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of the practice).

“Master, please help us!” I shouted out in my heart.

With that thought, I sprang out of bed and hurried to turn on the light. The room was full of smoke. I opened the window and awakened my daughter-in-law. She grabbed her daughter and the three of us fled the room. We were all fine.

I had another brush with death the following spring. I had just finished watering the garden far from my house. The watering wand was connected to an extension cord of more than 600 ft. As I was wrapping up the cord, I was shocked by a strong electric current. My body shook violently. Standing by a well about two feet wide, I was propelled to the other side of the well by the electricity, which was then tripped.

I then took a deep breath and looked at myself. I was surprised to find I was completely fine, and did not even have any burns on my skin. Thank you Master, for your protection!

No Longer Fighting Over Self-Interest

We had a small farm about five miles from my village. I brought the watering pipes and irrigation equipment to water the farm one day.

The farm lot was nearly 300 yards long. It had two wells on each side. I often used the well on the north side.

I unloaded the equipment by the well and then laid out the watering pipe on the farm.
When I was about 70% done with the preparation, along came another tricycle. That person went straight to the well and began to use it, completely ignoring me.

As the well was only about one foot wide, only one water pipe could fit in it at a time. This person came from another village. As the well was dug by our village, he wasn’t supposed to use it.

I was stunned at first. But then I thought, “I am a Dafa practitioner, and I shouldn’t fight with him for this. If he wants to use this well, then I will just use the other one instead.”

I wrapped up the pipes, loaded them into the tricycle, took them to the well on the south side and did everything again from the beginning. I was actually very calm and peaceful.

On another day, I went to a village to introduce Dafa to the residents there and met a young man.

“You practice Falun Gong?” he asked me.

“Yes,” I answered.

“I went to water the farm the other day and used your well. I knew I was in the wrong, and I was already prepared to have a big fight with you. But I didn’t expect…”

It was the same person! I told him that I was able to let him use the well because I practice Falun Dafa.

“Falun Dafa is indeed great!” he said.

Twelve Members of European Parliament Issue Declaration Calling for Investigation into Forced Organ Harvesting in China

May 29, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent Rongfa in Belgium

(Minghui.org) Twelve Members of the European Parliament recently issued a joint declaration requesting the European Parliament to investigate the illegal harvesting and trafficking of human organs by the Chinese communist regime.

Belgian MEP Louis Michel is one of the initiators of the declaration. His cabinet director Bénédicte Van den Berg said that the declaration is a strong voice against illegal organ transplantation and advocates an independent investigation in China. Organ harvesting is a key and sensitive issue, she said, because it is about human rights and human lives.

Practitioners of Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), a cultivation practice persecuted in China since 1999, rallied in front of European Parliament in Brussels on May 25 and 26, 2016 to express support.

The group exposed how the communist regime in China harvests organs from living practitioners imprisoned in China for their faith. The organs are used in transplants and sold for profit. In addition to condemning the persecution of Falun Gong, they asked members of the European Parliament to support this effort to bring further investigations into the Chinese regime’s harvesting of organs from prisoners of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners.

Falun Gong practitioners in front of European Parliament call attention to organ harvesting from practitioners detained in China for their belief.

The EP passed a resolution in December 2013 calling on the Chinese regime to stop harvesting organs from living prisoners of conscience. The recent declaration initiated by 12 MEPs from four political parties calls on the EP to take further action and investigate the crime of organ harvesting in China. Once the declaration gains the support of more than half of the MEPs, it will become a resolution.

Nick, a Falun Gong practitioner at the rally, said that they would continue to hold activities in front of the European Parliament until the declaration becomes a resolution. He believes that continuous efforts by people and leaders around the world are what’s needed to end China’s organ harvesting atrocities.

German MEP: “We Must All Do the Best We Can to Stop the Persecution”

Arne Gericke, MEP from Germany, attends the rally to support the practitioners’ efforts.

German MEP Arne Gericke came to the rally with a copy of the declaration in his hand. He said he wants to let more people know about this horrendous crime currently taking place in China.

“It is hard for people in Europe to know clearly what is happening in China. The truth of the tragic organ harvesting is concealed by the Chinese regime. I thank those who closely watch what is going on in China. They help us understand and make proper responses,” said Gericke.

“Organ harvesting from living people for profit is unacceptable in Europe,” said Gericke. “We are absolutely shocked. We want to help but didn’t know where to start, and that is why I am so happy to see [Falun Gong practitioners] here. This allows me to know what I can do. We must all do the best we can to stop the persecution.”

“It Is Our Responsibility to Take Action”

Czech MEP Tomas Zdechovsky, another initiator of the declaration, believes that organ harvesting in China is an important issue. “We want to open up the discussion on this issue in Europe. It is essential for our conversation with China, which is related to not only the economy, but also human rights,” said Zdechovsky.

“For me, it is important that we speak up on this issue and get everyone’s attention,” said British MEP Julie Ward, who signed the declaration “for the seven million people I represent.”

Explaining why he supports the declaration, German MEP Joachim Zeller said, “I believe that this is the most extreme form of human rights violation, and it is our responsibility to take action.”

Raising Public Awareness

Martin Bursík, a professor from the Czech Republic, hopes to help end the crime of organ harvesting.

Martin Bursík is a professor from the Czech Republic. He stopped at the rally and mentioned having heard a talk given by David Kilgour in the Czech Republic several years ago. Kilgour is a former Canadian MP and an independent investigator of organ harvesting in China. Bursik expressed support for Falun Gong and signed the petition against organ harvesting.

Journalists from Denmark plan to help raise awareness of the organ harvesting crimes in China.

Five journalists from Denmark saw the posters and learned about the ongoing persecution in China. One of them, Ms. Ditte Lumti, said, “This is the first time I’ve heard about this horrible crime.” They said that they would do what they could to help raise awareness of the issue.

Minnesota Senate Resolution Expresses Concern Over Organ Harvesting in China

May 27, 2016 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in Minnesota

(Minghui.org) The 89th Session of Minnesota Senate passed Resolution SF2090 on May 20, 2016 “expressing concern over persistent and credible reports of systematic, state-sanctioned, forced organ harvesting from nonconsenting prisoners of conscience, primarily from Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their spiritual beliefs, and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups in the People’s Republic of China.”

Similar state-level resolutions have been passed in recent years by Pennsylvania, Illinois, Colorado, Maine, and Delaware.

Minnesota Senators Alice Johnson (first from left) and Dan Hall (first from right) take a group photo with Falun Gong practitioners.

Overcoming several challenges, the resolution took over a year to pass. The Chinese Consulate in Chicago put pressure on the senators and sent mails twice defaming Falun Gong and denying the brutal persecution in China. However, these actions put a spotlight on the persecution, and more people supported the practitioners in calling for an end to the inhumane crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“This resolution goes to the core of our society,” said Senator Dan Hall, one of the sponsors of the resolution, while speaking on the Senate floor. “This goes to the Freedom of Religion we have in America. And it is not just America that we care about. It is really the world we care about. Falun Gong have been persecuted. Their body parts have been taken from them, to give and sell to others, some of them from America.”

Senator Hall said he was visited by the group from the Chinese Consulate who said they do not practice persecution and resent these allegations. He then pointed out, “We have enough people that have given enough evidence that these things are going on and we need to stop it. America is the land of the free. In America, we believe in the freedom of religion, freedom of our bodies, and we should be a light shining against injustice wherever it is, any place in the world. We are a country that believes each one of us has a voice.”

Senator Alice Johnson, another sponsor, said on the floor, “The exposure of the crime of forced organ harvesting is an important step in ending the abuse. In 2014, in the book The Slaughter, Gutman estimated between 2000 and 2008, at least 65,000 Falun Gong practitioners were killed on the operating table. Presently Mr. Gutman doubled that estimate.”

Senator Johnson said she hopes that the passage of [SF]2090 will help to prevent organ harvesting from prisoners without their consent. She added, “This will happen if we continue to exert international pressure and concern. Awareness at every level is very crucial to ending the abuse. The torture and killing of innocent people who practice Falun Gong must end.”

Over the past two summers, Falun Gong practitioners collected more than 60,000 signatures in Minnesota, petitioning the UN human rights commissioner to act on this issue. The resolution had strong bipartisan support in the Minnesota Senate and was passed unanimously.

The text of the resolution is as follows:

A resolution

expressing concern over persistent and credible reports of systematic, state-sanctioned, forced organ harvesting from nonconsenting prisoners of conscience, primarily from Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their spiritual beliefs, and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups in the People’s Republic of China.

WHEREAS, when performed in accordance with ethical standards, the medical discipline of organ transplantation is one of the great achievements of modern medicine; and

WHEREAS, organ transplantation depends on altruistic organ donation, which is based on free, voluntary, and informed consent of the donor; and

WHEREAS, free, voluntary, and informed consent cannot be guaranteed for death row prisoners who are deprived of their freedom and exposed to coercion; and

WHEREAS, forced organ harvesting is understood as organ procurement without prior free, voluntary, and informed consent, and includes the jeopardizing of the survival of the nonconsenting organ donor; and

WHEREAS, the People’s Republic of China implemented a regulation in 1984 that permits organ harvesting from executed prisoners, a practice that is banned by the World Medical Association and international ethical standards but continues unabated to date in China; and

WHEREAS, the organ transplantation system in China does not comply with the World Health Organization’s Guiding Principles of traceability and transparency in organ procurement pathways, and the government of the People’s Republic of China has resisted independent scrutiny of the system; and

WHEREAS, the Department of State Country Report on Human Rights for China for 2011 stated, “Overseas and domestic media and advocacy groups continued to report instances of organ harvesting, particularly from Falun Gong practitioners and Uighurs”; and

WHEREAS, Falun Gong, a spiritual practice involving meditative “qigong” exercises and centered on the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, became immensely popular in China in the 1990s, with multiple estimates placing the number of practitioners at upwards of 70 million; and

WHEREAS, in July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party launched an intensive, nationwide persecution designed to eradicate the spiritual practice of Falun Gong, including physical and mental torture; and

WHEREAS, since 1999, hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been detained extra-legally in Chinese reeducation-through-labor camps, detention centers, and prisons, where torture, abuse, and implausible medical exams and blood tests on Falun Gong practitioners are routine; and

WHEREAS, the number of organ transplant operations in China increased by more than 500 percent within five years after 1999, corresponding with the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong; and

WHEREAS, the increase of transplant organs is not attributable to an overall increase in the number of death row inmates or to a public organ donation system or another publicly recognized organ source; and

WHEREAS, the Government of the People’s Republic of China has not provided any explanation for the sudden increase of donor organs and the short wait times of 1 to 4 weeks for kidney and liver transplants; and

WHEREAS, two Canadian researchers – David Matas, a human rights attorney, and David Kilgour, former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific – conducted an investigation into allegations of organ harvesting from Falun Gong prisoners of conscience in 2006 and concluded, based on extensive circumstantial evidence, that the allegations were true and that tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners may have been killed for their organs; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, doctors from 17 Chinese hospitals admitted in phone calls with undercover investigators that they have used or could obtain vital organs of Falun Gong prisoners of conscience for transplant, with some of the doctors implicating local courts and security agencies in the organ procurement process; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Gutmann published findings that Chinese security agencies began harvesting organs from members of the predominantly Muslim Uighur ethnic minority group in the 1990s, including from Uighur political prisoners; and

WHEREAS, the United Nations Committee Against Torture and the Special Rapporteur on Torture have expressed concern over the allegations of organ harvesting from Falun Gong prisoners, and have called on the Government of the People’s Republic of China to increase accountability and transparency in the organ transplant system and punish those responsible for abuses; and

WHEREAS, Huang Jiefu announced in December 2014 that the People’s Republic of China will end organ harvesting from executed prisoners by January 1, 2015, while simultaneously stating that death row prisoners are citizens who have the “right” to donate their organs, and that their organs will be entered into the organ allocation program, and therefore the organ procurement from death row prisoners will continue under this new semantic terminology; and

WHEREAS, the aforementioned announcement made by Huang Jiefu has not been verified on official, publicly accessible Web sites or information boards of the Chinese ministry of health, and therefore remains an announcement by a single person, but not an announcement of the government; and

WHEREAS, the People’s Republic of China neither acknowledged the organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, nor expressed the cessation of it; and

WHEREAS, the Declaration of Istanbul Custodian Group, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting expressed in public statements that the announcement to end the organ harvesting by January 2015 is not credible, but only a semantic alteration of the same practice; and

WHEREAS, in January 2015, the White House, in response to the petition “We the People,” expressed its opposition to China’s practice of harvesting organs from executed prisoners; and

WHEREAS, the killing of religious or political prisoners for the purpose of selling their organs for transplant is an egregious and intolerable violation of the fundamental right to live; and

WHEREAS, in September 2012, experts testified before the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee that United States patients continue to travel to China for organ transplants and that the medical community continues cooperation and training with Chinese colleagues, creating the risk that they may be indirectly aiding abusive practices; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota that it:

(1) calls on the Government of the People’s Republic of China to immediately end the practice of organ harvesting from all prisoners and prisoners of conscience, and explicitly from Falun Gong prisoners of conscience and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups;

(2) calls upon the Government of the People’s Republic of China to immediately end the 15-year persecution of the Falun Gong, and the immediate release of all Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience;

(3) calls upon the President of the United States to undertake a full and transparent investigation by the United States Department of State into organ transplant practices in the People’s Republic of China, and calls for the prosecution of those found to have engaged in such unethical practices;

(4) will take measures to initiate a registry for residents of Minnesota who travel abroad to receive organ transplants; and

(5) will take measures to ban the entry of those who have participated in illegal removal of human tissues and organs, and seek prosecution of such individuals should they be found on the soil of Minnesota.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State of the State of Minnesota is directed to prepare copies of this memorial and transmit them to the President and Vice President of the United States, the President and Secretary of the United States Senate, the Speaker and Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, the chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, the chair of the House Committee on Foreign Relations, and Minnesota’s Senators and Representatives in Congress.

Philip and his daughter sign the calling for an end to the petition.

Retired engineer Philip had heard about Falun Gong before, but he was not aware of the brutal persecution that has been ongoing for so long.

“This must be stopped immediately,” said Philip and he and his daughter talked to practitioners for a long time. They could not understand why a government would suppress such a peaceful cultivation group. A practitioner explained that the teachings of Falun Gong, centered on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, are opposite to the communist party’s ideology, and the party is afraid of this traditional belief and of losing the control of people’s thoughts.

Philip believes that he sees the reason of the persecution now. “This is due to the tyrants’ paranoia. They are worried about losing their power, so they harass and suppress their own people. This is what Stalin did in Russia, and now the Chinese Communist Party has the same worry.”

2016-5-24-london-4
McCoy hopes that his signature will help stop the persecution.

Retired librarian McCoy simply could make a connection between the persecution and the peaceful meditation in front of him. He’d heard about the persecution a few months ago, and today he signed the petition. “The persecution has gone too long. It is time to end the communist party,” he said.

2016-5-24-london-5
Dan would like to learn more about Falun Gong.

Dan has seen practitioners’ peaceful protests in front of the Chinese Embassy many times, and always wanted to learn more about Falun Gong. Today, he asked practitioners many questions, and signed the petition. “I should have come to learn earlier and done more to help stop the persecution,” he said.

Ms. Pitt condemns the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China.

Retired physician Pitt was shocked when she heard about the state-sanctioned organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China. She said, “I feel shame on my Chinese colleagues [who are participating in the illicit organ harvesting].” She signed the petition calling upon British lawmakers to help stop the organ harvesting.

From Ridicule to Respect: A Change in Chinese Tourists in Paris, France

May 25, 2016 | By Minghui correspondent Zhou Wenying in Paris, France

(Minghui.org) Ms. Jun sets up posters near the Eiffel Tower every day to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong [also known as Falun Dafa] by the communist regime in China.

She comes across many tourists from China each day. Many of them, after talking to her, understand what the persecution is about and thank her for her efforts. Occasionally, some who had been misled by the Chinese regime’s propaganda against Falun Gong would verbally abuse her. Ms. Jun would remain calm and polite, and her friendly gestures soften their attitude. They eventually listened to her and treated her with respect.

Posters and banners near Eiffel Tower

From Insults and Ridicule to Praise

Ms. Jun tried to talk to a group of Chinese tourists one day. They refused to listen, ridiculed her, and got on the bus. Before they left, Ms. Jun waved goodbye and said, “Stay safe. If you would remember ‘Falun Dafa is good,’ it would bring you and your family good fortune.”

The same group came back to the Eiffel Tower the next day, and Ms. Jun didn’t hesitate to talk to them about Falun Gong again. One of them said to her, “You still want to talk to us? We made fun of you yesterday. Aren’t you upset?” She replied, “No, we practice ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.’ I just wanted to let you know about the practitioners in China who are being persecuted.”

The tourist told her that they didn’t think that she would be there because of what they did to her the day before. “When you told us to stay safe and wished us good fortune after we got on the bus, we felt bad. We thought you, a Falun Gong practitioner, were quite awesome because you weren’t angered by our words.”

Six of them listened to Ms. Jun and quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations, to show their disapproval of the regime’s decision to persecute Falun Gong.

Chinese Tourist Defends Falun Gong

Another time, Ms. Jun tried to talk to a group of tourists about quitting the Chinese Communist Party, in light of the crimes committed by the regime.

One of them disputed, “We believe in the CCP. Why should we quit?” Ms. Jun explained to them that over 80 million Chinese people died unnatural deaths after the CCP took power in 1949. “You don’t want to be part of the CCP and devote your life to it as you swore you would when you joined the Party,” she replied.

When Ms. Jun talked about the “self-immolation” hoax on Tiananmen Square” in 2001, a Chinese tourist interrupted her. “Please let me speak for you,” the woman said. “As I repeatedly watched that so-called news in 2001, I suspected that it was staged by the CCP.”

She said she was a firefighter and that “a fire blanket is so heavy that it couldn’t have been thrown easily in the air before it landed on the person on fire. Also, the person couldn’t have stayed sitting up if that heavy blanket landed on him. It would push him down. Thirdly, the blanket seemed to appear right after the person was done shouting. The perfect timing just made it seem rehearsed. I couldn’t convince myself that things just happened that way. The CCP staged it to frame Falun Gong.”

Ms. Jun agreed and added, “Exactly. Also, his hair and the plastic bottle in his lap remained untouched, but his face and clothes were badly burned after the fire was put out. It was not possible.”

At that moment, other tourists told Ms. Jun that they were convinced. About 20 of them quit the CCP and its youth organizations.

Hamburg, Germany: People Oppose Organ Harvesting in China

May 24, 2016 | By Minghui correspondent Shirley

(Minghui.org) It was a fine spring day in Hamburg, Germany, and the downtown area was swarming with tourists and local residents, as usual. Next to Reesendammbruecke, a tourist site more than 150 years old, Falun Gong practitioners set up a booth to raise awareness about the persecution in China, especially the organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

Seeing the mock operating table, one young man stopped to find out what had happened. After reading a poster nearby, provided by practitioners, he was astonished, “Really?! Is this actually happening in China?” After talking with one practitioner and learning about investigations by many third party organizations which have confirmed the atrocity, his expression went grim. In the end, he thanked the practitioner and encouraged him, “Please keep up good work. This is an important issue, and you must tell more people about it.”

Three teenaged girls walking past the booth were also drawn by the posters and banners. They said they had heard about the suppression in the past, and asked one practitioner why no officials had stopped such crimes. After the practitioner told them that the brutality was a nationwide suppression driven by the totalitarian Communist Party regime in China, the girls were disturbed by the cruelty, and said they would tell more people about it.

Many passersby were surprised to hear that the systematic persecution of Falun Gong has been ongoing for 17 years.

Jack and Emily, a couple from England currently working in Hamburg, saw the practitioners’ booth on the way to the Alster Lake with their friends. Although they had heard about the persecution in China previously from their friends, the vivid picture on the posters nonetheless shocked them. Both signed petitions calling to rescue local resident Ye Xiaojun’s mother, Ms. Ye Julan.

Like many other residents and tourists, Jack and Emily signed petitions to support Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Ye, 68, was arrested at home by Shanghai police in December 2014, and has since been detained. Putuo District Court sentenced her to a three-year prison term in May 2015. When Han Zheng, Party secretary of Shanghai, a sister city of Hamburg, visited Germany in early June 2015, several German news media reported on efforts by Falun Gong practitioners urging Ms. Ye’s release.
