Delhi, India: The Times of India Reports on Falun Dafa

July 22, 2016

( The Times of India newspaper (the third largest in India) published a report on July 18, 2016, entitled “Falun Dafa: An attempt to cultivate good, eliminate bad.”

“If you observe closely, you might find them in public parks, schools or houses, exercising in slow rhythmic movements to the sound of music, or practicing meditation,” begins the article.

“Falun Dafa, or Falun Gong, a spiritual philosophy with its roots in the 90s in China, has a sizable presence in India, with over 25 places of practice in Nagpur city alone, besides its presence in over 114 other countries.”

The article talked about a three-day Falun Dafa conference in the city, at Ambedkar Hall, Chhatrapati Nagar that was attended by over 100 Falun Dafa practitioners from 15 cities. The conference involved practitioners sharing experiences in the practice and insights gained from reading the Falun Dafa Books. The group conducted a march from Ambedkar Hall to Samvidhan Chowk. A candlelight vigil was also held to pay tribute to the Falun Dafa practitioners suffering persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“The USA, European Union and several other countries have condemned the Chinese order [to persecute Falun Dafa],” noted the article, after explaining how the practice came under attack by the communist regime in 1999 when the number of practitioners reached 70 million.

“Truth, compassion and tolerance are the three tenets of this philosophy,” stated the article and that the practice was introduced in 1992 by Li Hongzhi in China. “Li Hongzhi has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize three times. [Falun Dafa] was introduced in India in 2000, starting from New Delhi.”

Marc Luburic, a native of Australia, who runs a talent management agency in Mumbai, has been practicing Falun Dafa for four years. “’The practice isn’t so much about the exercises, but as a means of cultivating your mind and heart,’ he says. Luburic recalls popping pills, getting injections and drinking in moments of stress before being introduced to the philosophy. He says, within a week of following the exercises, his body no longer craved for alcohol or other substances. Good health and curing of illnesses is a by-product of the practice, he said.

The article also quotes the president of the Falun Dafa Association in India, Suren Rao, a freelance creative writer based in Kolkata, who said, “’Looking within is the focus of the practice. Instead of pointing fingers, we need an understanding that the problem originates from us, and can be solved by us.’”

An Undergraduate Student from India: The Most Precious Gift of My Life

March 06, 2016 | By Ruosi

( “Falun Dafa is the most precious gift of my life.” said Aishwarya Sai, a nineteen-year-old undergraduate student from Hyderabad, India. She has practiced Falun Gong for 13 years.

Aishwarya Sai

Aishwarya is the sole child in her family. She started practicing Falun Gong with her father when she was young. She said, “When I was in the first grade in 2001, my father went to my school to introduce Falun Gong. All the people at our school learned the exercises.”

She said her father always told her how to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in daily life. Falun Gong has helped her to be kind and tolerant, and her life to be simple and happy.

“Reading Zhuan Falun, I find answers to all the questions I have in life. Whatever questions and situations you face, I have learned that you can handle them well as long as you follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

Aishwarya later transferred to another school where she and her father introduced Falun Gong to teachers and students as well. Aishwarya said, “All the people in my school learned about Falun Gong. They respect it. The Divine Land Marching Band performed at my school when it visited Hyderabad.”

Last summer, Aishwarya participated in the Ride to Freedom, a human rights initiative whose mission was to rescue Chinese orphans whose parents were tortured to death for their belief in Falun Gong. Nearly 30 young cyclists from over ten countries rode 3,000 miles across the United States from Los Angeles to Washington, DC.

In the more than 40 days of their trip, they ate and slept outdoors and overcame many difficulties, “but what we suffered on the trip cannot compare to the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in China.” She added that those who participated in the Ride for Freedom, “worked together as a team and helped each other. Everyone followed Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

Aishwarya said she was fortunate to live in a free country. “I have freedom of belief, and am free to practice Falun Gong if I choose. But the Chinese Communist Party does not allow freedom. The Party imprisons Falun Gong practitioners following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and tortures them. This 16-year-long persecution must stop.”

India: Falun Dafa Attracts Crowds at Dussera Festival

November 06, 2015

( India is a land of festivals, celebrating the seasons and the elements of nature elements, colors that light up people’s lives, and of course the battle between good and evil.

At the recently-concluded Dussera Festival in Mysore, a group from Bangalore demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises at a pavilion near a temple. Festival-goers noted the practitioners’ tranquility, and many wanted to learn the meditation practice. They also heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China by the communist government.

A local politician learned the exercises and bought Falun Dafa books, saying that he would introduce the practice at his office.

Colorful Float Draws Attention in Nagpur

In Nagpur, practitioners showed the exercises, distributed flyers, and offered books for sale at a large booth. The locals there still have fond memories of two performances from years prior by the Divine Land Marching Band, made up of Falun Dafa practitioners.

For the first time in India, practitioners crafted floats and demonstrated the exercises on moving vehicles, drawing large crowds and frequent applause.

After local cable networks and press covered the event, phone calls poured in from locals who wanted to learn the exercises.
