November 21, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

( A Dalian City resident was tried two days after her son, a resident of Washington, D.C., called for her unconditional release in front of the Chinese Embassy. Some of her supporters were also arrested for trying to attend her trial in Dalian.

Ms. Yuan Xiaoman was seized from home on May 12, 2016 for filing a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her family’s ordeal.

Ms. Yuan, her husband, and their son practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The couple had been repeatedly arrested and tortured for their faith since the persecution began in 1999. Their son, Mr. Du Haiqing, later moved to the U.S. to escape the persecution.

Father Denied Visits with Daughter Imprisoned for Her Faith

November 10, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

( A Shenyang father has been denied visits with his daughter, who is serving time for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Sun Shujia, 37, was reading Falun Gong books together with some friends at a private home on April 17, 2014 when a group of officers broke in and seized them. She was later sentenced to 3 years and 2 months.

The authorities kept her at a local detention center for more than two years before moving her to a local prison in September 2016.

Her family has tried many times, unsuccessfully, to visit her since her prison transfer.

Most recently, her father went to the prison again on November 2. Two guards received him, but refused to let him see his daughter.

Mr. Sun grew worried when the guards told him that his daughter ate very little. They replied no when he asked if she was on a hunger strike.

Mr. Sun pleaded them to grant him a meeting with his daughter, as he was really concerned about her well-being. The guards left without responding.

The elderly man calls for the public to help seek release of his daughter, as she broke no law by exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief.

Thrice Given Forced Labor, Liaoning Man Faces Indictment for His Faith

November 08, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

( A Dashiqiao City resident faces indictment for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Mr. Liu Qingyu was walking down the street on June 28, 2016, when several officers came out of nowhere and seized him. They body searched him and confiscated the 1,830 yuan of cash he planned to use for some personal business.

Mr. Liu’s lawyer requested that his case be dismissed, as no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong. The police, however, proceeded to have him formally arrested in August. His case now rests with the local procuratorate, which may issue a formal indictment any time now.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Liu had been given forced labor three times for his faith. His family worries about what lies in store for him and calls for his immediate release.

Three Prior Forced Labor Terms

Mr. Liu was first arrested on December 5, 1999 and had his home ransacked that night.

During the interrogation, officer Li Jinsheng took off Mr. Liu’s pants and held him down. A few officers used metal bars to strike his buttocks and legs until he passed out. When he came to, a deputy chief named Zhang Maojie punched him in the head for more than 30 minutes.

Mr. Liu was next transferred to Dashiqiao Detention Center, where he was forced to do hard labor without pay for long hours every day. He was given two years of forced labor six months later.

The police kept harassing Mr. Liu at home after his release. He was forced to live away from home, but was seized at a bus station in 2004. The police sent him to a labor camp, where he was incarcerated for half a year. Every day he was forced to watch propaganda videos slandering Falun Gong.

Mr. Liu was arrested again on May 4, 2008 and given one year of forced labor. The guards at Masanjia Labor Camp only gave him a meager amount of food to eat every day. In the meantime, they forced him to work for extended periods of time, allowing him only a couple of hours of sleep every night.

The police took him out of the labor camp on August 7, 2008 and conducted a marathon interrogation session in the police department. They shocked him with electric batons intermittently from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. They shocked his fingers, toes, and penis. His big toe nails fell off as a result.

The police next kept him at Heicheng City Detention Center for one month before moving him back to the labor camp. He was abused to the point of losing half of his body weight.

He wasn’t released until 2009, only to be arrested again 7 years later.

Lawyer Demands Acquittal of Falun Gong Practitioner

November 07, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

( An Anshan City pharmacist was tried on October 18 on charges of using a cult to undermine law enforcement, a standard pretext used by the Chinese communist regime in its attempt to frame and imprison Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Dai Yajuan’s lawyer argued that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong and that his client should never have been prosecuted for exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief.

He also questioned the authenticity of the prosecution evidence and protested against the police’s violation of legal procedures.

Ms. Dai was seized from home on June 28. None of the officers showed any IDs or search warrants. The police drove her to the police station before returning to ransack her home.

By law, the police must fill out a search warrant return – an itemization of seized property, and the arrested person must be present when the police tallies the confiscated items. Ms. Dai was never given a chance to see what was taken away from her home. Her family, who wasn’t present during the police raid, later discovered that all her jewelry was gone.

The indictment mentioned the number of confiscated Falun Gong books in two places, one saying 163 copies while the other 169 copies.

The lawyer acknowledged that Ms. Dai indeed owned some Falun Gong books – though not as many as claimed by the police – but her possession was lawful and caused no harm to anyone or society at large, let alone undermined law enforcement.

There was another piece of prosecution evidence stating that the police interrogated Ms. Dai on July 4 and secured her signature on some paperwork. She testified that no officer visited the detention center to question her on that day.

The lawyer requested that the judge dismiss the prosecution evidence and acquit his client.

The judge adjourned the session without issuing a verdict.

September 30, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province

( Mr. Lian Jing, a retired geologist from Shenbei New District, was sentenced to three years incarceration following a recent secret trial in Shenbei New District Court.

According to the court staff, Mr. Lian insisted that he was innocent during the trial.

Mr. Lian, in his late 60’s, was talking to a soldier about the persecution of Falun Gong outside an army camp on April 26, 2016. The young soldier refused to listen. Instead, he physically attacked an elderly man and called the police.

Some police officers came to Mr. Lian’s house in the evening, and told Mr. Lian’s wife, “Your husband was beaten up by soldiers at the Liuwang Army Camp. We received a phone call and arrested him.

Following a home search, the police confiscated Falun Gong books, truth clarification materials, and a computer.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Lian refused to stop practicing. Thus, he was given a 15 months term and taken to a labor camp in 2002.

Life Before Cultivation

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lian spent years surveying the outdoors. During one expedition, he fell from a tree and sustained a serious concussion. Despite frequent hospital visits and medication, he was not able to recover his health. He suffered from headaches and dizziness for many years.

After Mr. Lian began to practice Falun Gong in the 1990’s, he completely recovered. He no longer had any headaches, and recovered from his other illnesses.

One day he was hit by a vegetable vendor’s tricycle and fell to the ground. Bystanders saw the accident and blamed the vendor for it. They demanded the vendor take Mr. Lian to a hospital. Mr. Lian used all his strength to stand up, and told the vendor to leave. After a few days, Mr. Lian was fine.

Cured of Illness and Given a New Life

September 15, 2016 | By a Dafa practitioner in Liaoning Province, China

( Prior to practicing Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), I suffered from severe health issues that brought me to the brink of death.

After I began practicing Falun Gong, all of my illnesses were cured, and I was given a healthy and wonderful life.

Plagued by Chronic Illness

When I was five, a bout of tuberculosis left me with a persistent cough and a frail body. Minor colds would cause me to become bedridden, and I was on a constant regime of oral medications and injections.

Because our family relied on my father’s meager income as a farmer, we had to live frugally in order to pay for my medical treatments.

Despite searching far and wide, and spending much of our financial resources on various treatments, nothing cured my illness. As I matured, my health continued to worsen.

Still, I continued to consume large quantities of medication that did not work. Even worse, I suffered from medication side effects such as heart palpitations, trembling, nausea, vomiting, and severe stomach pain.

Because of my illness, I was unable to work in the fields, and I brought much hardship to my husband and his family. My husband was forced to stay home to farm the land and was unable to look for a job in the city.

Our financial situation was further strained because I required constant treatment from the local doctor. Whatever my husband earned from the autumn harvest was used to pay my medical fees, with the little remainder used to sustain our impoverished family.

I cried frequently, lamenting my miserable life and the suffering I had brought to my family. At one point, I even considered committing suicide. However, thoughts of my young son and daughter trying to cope with the loss of their mother held me back and encouraged me to soldier on.

In 1997 my condition took a turn for the worse. Too weak to get out of bed, I had to be helped up by my husband just to eat.

In a last ditch effort, doctors prescribed a variety of both Western and Chinese medicine – all to no avail.

My precarious condition cast a pall of misery and anxiety over our family: My elderly mother-in-law fell ill, my husband cried constantly in secret, and my children would gaze at me with tears in their eyes.

Falun Gong Gives Me a New Lease on Life

Among the relatives who came to visit me was my great uncle. Sympathetic to our predicament, he quickly asked his wife, who was living in another city, to return home and teach me how to practice Falun Gong.

Soon after, my great aunt came bearing Falun Gong books and audio materials. As she sat by my side, we listened to Master Li Hongzhi’s recorded lectures.

Although I was barely able to move, my great aunt told me to try to do as much of the exercise movements as I could. After just two or three minutes, I was sweating profusely.

My Aunt told me not to worry, as this was a sign that my body was being purified. She added, “I’m sure your illness will soon be cured. Falun Gong has such amazing powers that even cancer patients have been cured.”

True to her words, I spent the third night vomiting for over an hour, spitting out large quantities of bitter fluid. On the fourth day, I started urinating constantly, and by the seventh day, the unnatural swelling all over by body had subsided. I started to feel stronger.

After only three weeks of practicing Falun Gong, I began taking over the housework and accompanying my husband to work in the fields. My husband exclaimed to all he met, “Falun Gong saved my wife!”

Word of my recovery spread throughout the village, and people were amazed at the power of Falun Gong. Villagers continuously visited our home to learn the practice; within a few months, dozens of people within my village became Falun Gong practitioners.

My Husband’s Steadfast Support for Falun Gong

Having witnessed the power of Falun Gong, and the benefits that came from cultivation, my husband was in full support of my practice.

During the 1999 persecution of Falun Gong, I was illegally detained after traveling to Beijing to lodge an appeal. Some Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel sought out my husband. They asked him, “Is Falun Gong really that good?”

“Falun Gong is indeed very good,” he said. “My wife’s incurable illness was cured by Falun Gong.”

During this period of time, my attempts at clearing the malicious slander against Falun Gong and Master Li Hongzhi made me a target of persecution.

For safety reasons, I was forced to leave my home and go into hiding. Unable to find me, the police became furious and arrested my husband instead.

They brought him to the police station and demanded to know where I was, as well the location of other Dafa practitioners. The police threatened him with an electric baton. Still, he firmly replied, “I do not know.”

When the police found me, they illegally detained me for over five years. During this time, my husband shouldered all our household duties, without complaint.

He single-handedly brought up our son, all while tending to the farm and our pigs. With help from family, friends, and fellow villagers, he renovated our home and built a courtyard around our house in order to welcome me home.

I was touched by his love and support for Falun Gong.

Rewarding a Righteous Person

Because of my husband’s unwavering belief in the goodness of Falun Gong, he has walked away from multiple life-threatening situations without a scratch.

Once, while driving a cart filled with corn stalks through a traffic crossing, a speeding truck barreled by and just missed colliding with him by inches. The truck driver broke into a cold sweat and exclaimed to my husband, “We were really lucky.”

On another occasion, while driving our donkey cart, our donkey bolted, causing the cart to overturn. Although my husband was flung a distance away, he suffered no injuries.

After my release from prison, I resumed my duties of tending to the farm while my husband ventured to another town in search of work. He eventually found work as a basic laborer, and within one month of starting his new job, he was promoted to supervisor because of his hard work and kind attitude.

Then, only one year later, the company boss promoted my husband again.

My husband’s unit achieves consistently high production efficiency, and has one of the most profitable units in the municipality. As such, he has received much praise from his superiors.

It is hard to believe that my uneducated, inexperienced, 60-year-old husband could achieve this much success so late in life. I believe this achievement came from his unwavering support of Falun Gong and belief in the goodness of Falun Dafa.

A Happy Family

Our son is now happily married, and we recently welcomed the birth of our grandson. Our family understands the goodness of Falun Dafa, and my son and his wife have quit the CCP.

While my husband and son are away working in another town, I tend to our farm. Our family of five wants for nothing and we live a happy and enjoyable life.

I am grateful to Falun Gong for granting me health, a new life, and a warm and happy home.

I sincerely hope everyone can understand the truth about Falun Gong, recognize the lies being spread by the CCP, and lend their support to this righteous practice.

Woman Cured of Leukemia by Falun Gong, Arrested for Her Beliefs

September 07, 2016 | By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

( A Chaoyang City resident was arrested and given 15 days of detention for telling people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

This is not the first time that Ms. Mu Lihua has been targeted for her faith. Her latest arrest was preceded by six prior arrests.

Ms. Mu persisted in her efforts to inform the public that the persecution is wrong because Falun Gong cured her leukemia and is nothing like what the regime has depicted in its propaganda.

Ms. Mu contracted leukemia at the age of 26 and had to rely on frequent blood transfusions. She once remained hospitalized for eight straight months. Her husband was crushed by the financial and emotional burden, and divorced her a few years later.

Ms. Mu’s parents took her in and borrowed money to continue her treatment. She felt terrible for having become a burden to them.

As nothing else worked, Ms. Mu eventually turned to Falun Gong in 2003, despite the ongoing persecution of the practice. She soon experienced Falun Gong’s extraordinary healing effects. Her symptoms subsided, and she no longer needed medical attention.

Her parents were thrilled to see their daughter recover from an incurable disease, and they credit Falun Gong for saving her life and bringing hope to their family.

Ms. Mu felt compelled to share her miraculous recovery with people and urge them to help stop the persecution. However, she soon became a target of the local police.

Ms. Mu remains at Beipiao City Detention Center following her arrest on August 24 of this year. Mr. Shuang Yawen, another Falun Gong practitioner arrested with her, is also being kept captive there.
