Police and People in China Help Falun Gong Practitioners

October 07, 2015

(Minghui.org) Although the persecution of Falun Gong is still rampant across some areas in China, in other locales police and Chinese people are quietly making efforts to support Falun Gong, after realizing that practitioners are good people and how brutal the persecution is.

The following are some examples that illustrate the changes in attitudes people have demonstrated across different regions of China.

A practitioner in Heilongjiang Province chatted with an elderly man about Falun Gong at a local market. The man told the practitioner that his family had also been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and he had been held in a forced labor camp where he suffered a great deal.

The man’s son works at a local police station. The man said he told his son to release as many arrested Falun Gong practitioners as possible because they are good people. He also told his son that the CCP is corrupt and that it orders the police to persecute good people.

Policeman Feels Protected After Quitting the CCP

Patrolling police arrested two practitioners who were talking to people about Falun Gong. The practitioners spoke to the officer who was assigned to watch them at the police station about Falun Gong and the persecution.

The officer told them that he knew that Falun Gong is good. He had quit the Party when an overseas practitioner called the station. “My life became easier after I quit the Party,” he told the practitioners, “I am protected.”

He told them he and his partner were traveling on a business trip when they had a car accident and the car flipped over. His partner was severely injured but he had no injuries at all. “Falun Gong is amazing,” he said.

The police captain who was doing the paperwork for the practitioners then told them he would call an acquaintance at the detention center and ask him not to give them a hard time.

Clearing Away Misconceptions

A practitioner took some fliers about Falun Gong to the local market one morning. A man in his 50’s called the practitioner over. Although the practitioner didn’t recognize the man they chatted anyway.

The man said the practitioner had given him a DVD about Falun Gong a few years ago. “I didn’t quite agree with you at the beginning, because I didn’t think the CCP is as bad as the DVD said,” he told the practitioner.

The man said he had gradually come to understand the content of the DVD and he realized that the Communist Party is totally corrupt. “Falun Gong is doing the right thing against the Communist Party,” the man said.

The practitioner told him that practitioners were not supposed to get involved in politics. “We just want to tell people what Falun Gong is and why the Party persecutes Falun Gong,” the practitioner said.

The practitioner gave the man two new DVDs about Falun Gong. The man happily accepted the DVDs and said he wanted to talk with the practitioner about Falun Gong next time.

The same practitioner talked to a man selling vegetables at the market and gave the man a Shen Yun DVD. The practitioner then changed the topic.

“What do you think about Falun Gong?” the practitioner asked the man.

“Falun Gong is so powerful,” the man exclaimed, “They have pulled down the Communist Party.”

The practitioner told him that Falun Gong didn’t pull the party down. The party destroyed itself by persecuting good people. “What goes around comes around,” the practitioner told the man, and he agreed.

The practitioner went back to see the man the following morning and helped him quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Sichuan Police Officer: “That Pamphlet Scares Me. Everything in It Is True.”

September 28, 2015 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in Sichuan Province, China

(Minghui.org) An elderly female Falun Gong practitioner went to a farmers’ market to distribute truth-clarification materials in the afternoon on June 10, 2015.

Several security guards saw her and decided to take her to the police. She told them why she was distributing the materials and offered them a DVD. She also told them that Zhou Yongkang (a former high-ranking Chinese Communist Party – CCP – official) is serving a life sentence for persecuting Falun Gong. But they refused to listen and insisted on taking her to the police station.

When officers at the police station saw her being brought in, they looked in her bag and found DVD’s and pamphlets. One officer said, “Let me look at this more closely.” Each officer took a pamphlet about the crimes committed by Zhou Yongkang and Jiang Zemin (former head of the CCP) and began reading. Some of them took a DVD and went back to their offices.

After some time, one officer came back and said, “My goodness, that pamphlet is scary. Everything in it is true.”

The officer in charge of confiscated items told me that he did not submit the materials to his superior. Instead, he told each officer to take some home.

After all the materials were taken, the officer called the practitioner’s family and asked them to come and take her home.

Local Police Choose to Protect Falun Gong Practitioners

September 19, 2015 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) For over sixteen years, Falun Gong practitioners in China have been resisting the persecution. Many police officers in our area have stopped participating in the suppression, and some have even chosen to protect practitioners.

Police Chief: Practitioners Are Good People

A few years ago, a new chief was appointed to the local police station. He responded to many calls about Falun Gong practitioners from people conditioned to do so by the Communist Party’s propaganda, but he never had the practitioners arrested.

In one instance, he drove to a practitioner’s home and said, “This is the first time I’ve been to your home, but I know you. Someone reported you once before. I drove to where you were and parked. I saw you posting and distributing materials, but pretended I didn’t see you.”

“Today, I want to make friends with you. I am letting you know that this is my first official home visit and also the last. Do you know why? I know Falun Gong practitioners are all good people. Therefore, my rule is not to trouble Falun Gong.”

Officers Refuse to Arrest Practitioners

A while ago, the local 610 Office ordered the police to arrest practitioners on their blacklist.

A local police officer used to persecute practitioners, but they did not hold a grudge against him. They only patiently told him why the persecution was happening and how Falun Gong is far from how it’s portrayed in the government’s propaganda. They explained that practitioners do their best to live by the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

When the officer was ordered to arrest practitioners in his patrol area, he refused. “They are good people. Why should we arrest them? I won’t do it.”

His superior replied, “If you don’t want to, I’ll find others to do it.” The officer warned the practitioners ahead of time, and they were able to avoid arrest.

Police in Bazhong, Sichuan Province Harass Plaintiffs Suing Jiang Zemin

September 17, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Sichuan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Since August, the Bazhou District Police Department, together with neighborhood committees, have harassed and arrested Falun Dafa practitioners who filed criminal complaints against former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin.

The district’s Domestic Security police broke into Mr. Wu Yinghao’s home on August 27, 2015 and arrested Mr. Wu and two other practitioners. The deputy team lead told Mr. Wu, “You helped others write their criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, so you committed a crime.”

Police also ransacked Mr. Wu’s home and seized his computer, a printer, Falun Dafa books and materials, and over 19,000 yuan. The deputy team lead said he was “following an order” from the government.

Jiangbei police, a deputy Party Secretary, and a deputy director from the neighborhood committee broke into practitioner Liao Zeguang’s home on August 11, 2015. The Party Secretary shouted, “How dare you sue former president Jiang Zemin!” The deputy director then threatened, “If you dare sue him, we’ll cancel your welfare!”

The men tried to force Mr. Liao to sign a statement withdrawing his lawsuit. Instead, Mr. Liao wrote, “Bring Jiang Zemin to justice.” They stormed out of Mr. Liao’s home, but later called him repeatedly, demanding that he drop his lawsuit.

Deputy director Li Shihua of the Longquan Neighborhood Committee told Mr. Liao, “Suing Jiang Zemin is going against the Communist Party.” She tried several times to force him to withdraw his lawsuit, and threatened to cancel his welfare. She also made threats against Mr. Liao’s children and other family members.

Police and neighborhood committee officials from Enyang District and the city of Yuxi broke into practitioner Yang Xueqiong’s home on August 13. The next day, they went to practitioner Chen Shufang’s home and made further threats, trying to determine who had helped practitioners write criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin. They also searched the practitioners’ homes and seized Falun Dafa books and materials, computer equipment, and other items.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Dafa.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office” on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang’s directive regarding Falun Dafa: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.

A Growing Trend: Police Officers in China No Longer Blindly Follow Orders

September 14, 2015

(Minghui.org) Since May of this year, more than 160,000 Falun Gong practitioners have filed criminal complaints and lawsuits against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong. Although the plaintiffs should be protected by law, a number of the practitioners have been harassed by local policemen who obtained their identities and addresses from the complaint files.

However, due to practitioners’ ongoing efforts to expose both the illegality and brutality of the 16-year persecution, many police officers no longer want to get involved in harassing law-abiding citizens. Some have just carried out their orders perfunctorily, and simply walk through the process.

Below are accounts of three encounters that took place recently between Falun Gong practitioners and police officers in Jilin Province. In all of these cases, the police stopped the harassment and no further action was taken against the practitioners.

You cannot leave until I finish

A police officer came to my house with the original copy of my criminal complaint against Jiang.

He asked, “Did you write this, including your name and address?”

“Yes,” I replied.

“Good handwriting. Who suggested that you file the complaint?”

“The new Chinese law,” I said.

The police officer remained silent. I took this opportunity to say to him, “I am a rational person and do not easily believe just anything. However, after I read the book Zhuan Falun, my views of the world and life changed. I found the real meaning of life.

“Our Master teaches Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and asks us to consider others’ interest before our own. I also learned that being selfless is the only path to happiness.”

The police officer prepared to leave. I held him, “You cannot leave until I finish. I am telling you: do not persecute Falun Gong. I hope that you will try your best to protect Falun Gong practitioners in the future. If you persecute Falun Gong, you will bring shame to your ancestors and children.”

As the officer left my home he ran into my neighbor outside. My neighbor said to him, “Falun Gong people are so good. They touch our hearts, and what they have been doing [filing criminal complaints against Jiang] is very encouraging.”

The police officer said nothing and quickly moved on.

There must be thousands of complaints against Jiang all over the country

Two police officers came to my house.

One asked, “Did you file a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin?”

“Yes, I did,” I responded.

“Who told you to do so?”

“Nobody. I did it myself.”

“Do you have any Falun Gong materials at home?”

“No. You guys have taken away everything.”

“Do you have any Falun Gong books?”

“Yes.”

“Give them to me.”

“No,” I said firmly. “What would I read, if I give them to you?”

“Where did you get your complaint printed out?” he continued.

“I cannot tell you. Actually you are all victims of Jiang Zemin’s crimes. You do whatever your boss tells you, but you don’t know what you are doing. If Falun Gong is not good, how come it is practiced all over the world? You should remember that Falun Dafa is good. It is good for you.”

“You didn’t answer my questions. But that’s okay. Weren’t you afraid that you would get in trouble when you exposed your identity and address in the complaint?”

“No, I am not afraid. I wouldn’t have done so if I had fear. I actually included everything so as to prove my identity.”

The police officer turned to his co-worker and said, “There are so many plaintiffs in our area. I guess there must be many thousands of complaints against Jiang throughout the country.”

“Yes, the number has already reached 160,000,” I said.

Then, two more police officers came.

One asked, “Can you show me how you do the sitting meditation?”

I did so, and they all watched. One remarked, “The energy channels in her body are all open now, when she is doing the sitting meditation.”

One officer asked me, “Are you sure that you guys will win the lawsuit?” I answered, “One hundred percent positive. What we want is our basic human rights.”

The officer asked me if I had gotten a receipt indicating that my lawsuit had been received, and I told him that the Supreme Court had sent the receipt to my cell phone.

One police officer suggested that they search my house, but the other said, “What for? There is nothing in her house.” Then they left.

Who is your boss? I am going to sue him!

A police officer called me, “Did you file a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin?”

“Yes, I did.”

“Why did you do it?”

“I sued Jiang because he has persecuted me.”

The police officer then said that he had the original copy of my complaint.

I said to him, “That is not right. How could it end up in your hands? Are you from the Supreme Court in Beijing? Are you in charge of this case?”

He started to hedge, “Not really. My boss asked me to call you.”

I said, “My complaint is protected by law, and what you are doing is against the law. Who is your boss?”

“Why do you need to know who my boss is?”

“Because I will sue him!”

The police officer quickly hung up the phone.

Righteous Thoughts Overcome Police Brutality

September 08, 2015 | By Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Qin in Jiamusi City, China

(Minghui.org) Eight police officers came to my house on July 28, 2015. When they entered my bedroom, some pinned me to the bed, while others ransacked my home.

They refused to respond when I told them that they were breaking the law. When they found some Falun Gong flyers and DVDs, they dumped them on the floor.

“Do you know why we are here?” one of the officers demanded. “You mailed a criminal complaint, didn’t you? We are here because of that!” Then they arrested me.

Just a Piece of Meat on a Cutting Board

They tied me to an iron chair at the police station. They demanded that I sign their interrogation report, which I refused.

“You filed a false accusation against our former leader. You must sign it,” they said.

He showed me my complaint and asked if I had prepared it.

“Yes, this was prepared by me,” I said. “Jiang Zemin has persecuted so many good people, and he is responsible for the crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. What you are doing is against the law. The government said that every case would be reviewed.”

“I don’t care what you say,” responded one of the officers. “Here you are just a piece of meat on a cutting board. Sign the paper now or I will break your fingers.”

After a physical examination at the Central Hospital, the police took me to a detention center. On the way there I constantly sent the righteous thought that the center would not accept me.

Sure enough, within 30 minutes after we arrived, these thoughts took effect. “We do not accept anyone who filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin,” a detention center official said.

I was back home the next afternoon. After sorting through my belongings, I noticed that the police had confiscated all my Falun Gong books, a computer, a printer, and dozens of Falun Gong DVDs, among other personal items.

Police Release Detained Practitioner Who Stood Up for Her Beliefs

August 30, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Li from Guangzhou City was recently arrested. After talking to the police about Falun Gong, she was released the next day.

Ms. Zhang and two fellow practitioners were telling people the facts about Falun Gong on August 16, 2015. A student, who had been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda, reported them. Police arrested Ms. Zhang and another practitioner.

Ms. Zhang persistently clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the police and the student.

“My young friend, what you did is not good for you. We follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. There is nothing wrong with it,” she said to the student. “If people would keep these three principles in their hearts, there would be no poisonous oil and fake medicines, nor would there be so much corruption.”

She continued, “You asked the police to arrest us. You also harmed them. Jiang Zemin, who launched the persecution of Falun Gong, is being sued by people worldwide. He persecuted my family. He also persecuted you. It’s a heavenly principle that no one can escape punishment for bad deeds.”

Three officers came to the interrogation room. They harassed the two practitioners and handcuffed their hands behind their backs.

An official named Chen entered the interrogation room the next morning.

“Falun Dafa is good! I hope you have a bright future. And I won’t cooperate with you for anything you want,” said Ms. Zhang.

She was taken for a physical examination in the afternoon.

“My left hand was fractured before.” she said. “I will hold you responsible if it fractures again.”

The police took off the handcuff. Her hands were already covered with bruises.

Bruises and injuries on Ms. Zhang Li’s arm and hand.

“You talked about Falun Gong to three students, and we recorded their report,” said Chen. “You gave them fliers and amulets. You had 54 fliers, 10 copies of the Minghui Weekly, 1 Shen Yun DVD, and 4 amulets. You violated the social safety regulations. Do you want to appeal?”

“I completely reject everything you said,” Ms. Zhang replied. “I’m a Falun Gong disciple who assists her Teacher in saving sentient beings and rectifying the Fa. What we do is the most righteous. Jiang Zemin committed crimes. You are also committing a crime.”

He told her that they could not convince her, but she also could not convince him either. He announced that he would take her for a physical examination since she claimed that she had not become ill after she began practicing Falun Gong. She told him that she had not seen a doctor since she began practicing.

She was released at 11:54 p.m. that same night.
